BUS126 – Instructions for Visiting Earth

Here, we accompany an artist for a brief stretch along a path defined­only­by­transience.­ The exhibition ­“Instructions for Visiting Earth” by Berlin-based painter BUS126 offers no station,­ no­ rest ­stop, ­nor ­ ­a moment ­of ­pause.­ The­ time­ elapsed between the creation of these images and their viewing by the public has already carried his spirit – and thus his painting – far away from the present moment. Metaphorical descriptions – such as a raindrop drying on our skin or the rush of air from­ a ­passing ­train ­briefly ­tousling ­our ­hair­–­seem ­to ­better capture this small segment of his work.

Conversations leading up to this show left me with the impression that the line between passion and mania had been ­crossed­ long ­ago.­ The­ moment­ that­ left the deepest mark on me was his description of how he must always immediately commit his thoughts to paper. Evidence of this mindset can be found in abundance in the art of BUS126.
