R. Borrmann: Diamonds

In the early 1980s, a brisk bartering of photos of painted trains developed within the New York trainwriter scene.

The surroundings of the track systems and affiliated people of the writers were also the subject of the photographs. The negative thus became the central medium of exchange, since it enabled the production of high-quality copies.

In parts of the Berlin scene, this tradition has been preserved to this day. The Berlin photographer R. Borrmann has generated a very extensive archive through this barter and supplemented it with pictures he made himself.

In his exhibition „Gentle Giant“ he focuses on the whole cars of the Berlin DIAMONDS from the past years.

R. Borrmann has selected authentic, previously unpublished image material from his collection in order to show it in the form of large-format prints.
